We gladly accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare plans. If you have a different provider, we’re happy to discuss private pay options to make the process as accessible as possible.

For students, the full diagnostic process involves three in-person visits about a week apart. The first appointment lasts around 90 minutes and includes testing and an interview. During the second visit, we finish any unfinished assessments and complete the interview data collection process. During the third visit, we review your detailed diagnostic report together and discuss next steps for treatment or support. For adults who are out of school, the full process can sometimes be done in two sessions.

For students, during your first two appointments, we will conduct a 45-minute diagnostic interview and you will take four standardized ADHD assessments (including a Continuous Performance Test). We will also collect outside assessments from two adults who know you well enough to answer questions about your symptoms. For your third visit (the follow-up appointment), you’ll participate in a 55-minute feedback session to help you understand any diagnostic information contained in your report. After your follow-up visit, we will upload your 10–12-page diagnostic report into your profile in TherapyAppointment for you to have. If you want, we can also fax your diagnostic report to your primary care provider. If you don’t have a primary care provider, we would be happy to recommend someone to you at that time.

Insurance coverage varies widely. Some plans pay for everything except your co-pays. Some plans won’t cover any of this process. Most plans cover about half of the total cost of the evaluation. Once you complete that information, we will find out the specifics of your insurance plan and reach out to you with that information.

Our clinic does not provide medication or medical treatment. Clients who are diagnosed with ADHD will be referred back to their pediatrician or primary care provider to discuss medication options, if desired. However, if a client does not have a primary care provider, we have developed a strong referral list and are happy to refer our clients to a primary care provider.

We ask the legal guardian for every minor client to identify the name of one parent and one teacher to whom we can send an ADHD assessment. For clients who are 18+, we ask that you identify the name of two adults who know you well enough to answer a few questions about your ADHD symptoms. We do this in order to collect a matrix of data from multiple sources about your symptoms. Diagnostic work is complicated and the ability to collect enough information is crucial to the process. We appreciate your understanding the importance of this step.

You can help by completing all requested forms in detail and sharing examples of symptoms you’ve noticed over time. Old report cards or notes from teachers can also be helpful but aren’t required. The more context we have, the better we can understand your experience.
